Handling
Bohle Containment Valve
Increasing demands in the handling of highly-active or highly-sensitive pharmaceutical products require safe solutions in product transfer during ingredient production. To this effect, L.B. Bohle has developed the special BCK container valve. It is a classic “Split-Butterfly Valve" with innovative features both for considerably reducing the environmental dust load and significantly improving handling. The contamination of the environment with active materials is reduced to the nanogram level.
The system is designed for an occupational exposure limit (OEL) of less than 1 µg/m3. Measurements according to "assessing the particulate containment performance of pharmaceutical equipment" (former SMEPAC) showed values of less than 0.2 µg/m3. Moreover, the design ensures highest safety which makes an operating error virtually impossible. The undocking process with an open valve is mechanically locked and the undocked passive valve is also secured against any rotation.
The BCK is very versatile thanks to the low construction height. The total height of the BCK, with a nominal diameter of 200 mm, is approx. 250 mm for the active and passive halves, including the compensator. Suction filters are integrated in the valve flange of the active part, making an external filtering of the exhaust air a thing of the past. The passive valve element is absolutely self-operating. The active valve is driven pneumatically. There are no electric components directly at the valve, which considerably simplifies the application in hazardous areas.
